  • All dog owners in the Town of Fort Smith are required to have a license. Everyone applying for a Dog License must provide the following information:

    •    Name, street address and postal address of owner
    •    Name and breed of dog
    •    Valid certificates or proof of vaccination, including rabies, other information may be requested 

    Fees: Spayed female dog: $15; Neutered male dog: $15; Un-neutered male or female dog: $35

    Dog Teams: Annual Kennel Fee: $75; Each dog: $5

  • Started in 1991, Great Slave Animal Hospital cares for animals in Yellowknife and throughout the surrounding communities of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.     The Great Slave Animal Hospital is able to facilitate boarding arrangements for canines, felines and a variety of exotic animals. Feline borders are housed in clinic. Sociable cats are welcome to interact at the Cozy Cat Lounge with the Great Slave Animal Shelter’s frisky felines.

    Our doggy guests are housed in our kennel facility. Indoor kennel dimensions are 6’x10’ with a 6’x10’ outdoor run. The kennel facility is equipped with in-floor heating and each dog is given a comfy Kuranda dog bed.

    The NWT SPCA is a non-profit, charitable, volunteer Board-ran organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for all domesticated animals  in the NORTH.  We do this through general public education and awareness, relationship building in communities and partnering with organizations outside and within the NWT. We are pleased to offer various programs and services to the residents in the NWT. These services include animal rescue and protection initiatives, Pet Food and Supplies for Communities Program, adoption and fostering, and various volunteer shelter programs. We also offer a Community spay/neuter program at our Shelter clinic with Dr. Michelle Tuma and go into communities for clinics under our Animal Health Initiative program.  We work with Vets Without Borders as well as the Sahtu Vet Team from Calgary.

  • Hay River Animal Shelter

    Here at Hay River Animal Shelter, we see the value in every animal. We strongly believe that all animals deserve to live. We stand by this model as we are a "no kill shelter". 

    We are a dog and cat animal rescue located in Hay River, Northwest Territories. We assist in running the local municipal Animal Control Facility with the Hay River Bylaw Officer, accept strays/surrenders, and help with community education on proper pet ownership.

    It doesn't matter if an animal is big, small, goofy, or shy. Our staff and volunteers are dedicated to each and every animal that comes through our doors.
